Description

Time of activity of danger areas (anti-hail activity) cannot be planned in advance due to the nature of the activities carried out and therefore cannot be announced in the daily AUP/UUP. The active hail suppression season is held from 1 APR till 30 OCT. The actual hail suppression season dates are announced by a NOTAM message depending on crop growth stage and anti-hail forecasts. Air- ground communication is mandatory and flight operations within the danger areas (anti-hail activity) shall be performed with transponder switched on, irrespective of area activation/deactivation. Before flight starting in airspace class "G" the pilot-in-command shall obtain information about the time of activity of the areas from FIC Sofia on tel.:00359 2 937 4270. During flight the pilot-in-command shall continuously listening watch on operational frequency of the appropriate ATS unit or FIC. When the aircraft is equipped with transponder, Mode A Code 2000 shall be selected unless otherwise instructed by the ATS unit. The pilot-in-command shall take into account that during the conduction of the flight it is possible to be in area without radio communication or in area without radar coverage. Flight levels 240 and above are permitted to overfly danger areas, when they are activated. See ENR 6.1- 1 and ENR 6.2- 1.
